Top 8 Fish Finders

  1. Garmin echoMAP 73sv
  2. Humminbird Helix 7 Chirp
  3. Garmin Striker Plus 4 with Dual-beam
  4. Humminbird HELIX 5 SI/GPS Combo
  5. Lowrance Elite-7 CHIRP
  6. Humminbird Solix 10
  7. Raymarine Dragonfly 7 Pro
  8. Lowrance Hook Reveal

Garmin echoMAP 73sv

The Garmin echoMap 73sv is the first selection for one of the best fish finders on this list. It is a 7-inch touchscreen with buttons on the right side of the screen to control its functions.

The LCD screen is bright, making it readable in direct sunlight. It also features a quick-release bail mount, providing easy removal if needed.

The Garmin comes with LakeVu G3 inland maps with Navionics data that contains more than 17,000 lakes with 1’ contours.

It supports Panoptix all-seeing sonar and a live scope sonar. It also has sonar sharing capabilities with other units such as the ECHOMAP Plus and ECHOMAP Ultra.

For networking purposes, it supports wireless connections, as well as NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 connections.

In addition, this network provides engine data, sensor connection, autopilot integration, and compatibility with older fish finder units.

The Garmin is a great low-end fish finder for anglers with a budget. Be wary, though, as this fish finder does not come with a transducer, and that must be purchased separately.

Humminbird Helix 7 Chirp

The Humminbird Helix 7 Chirp has a screen that is a 7-inch ultra-wide display. While coming with split-screen options, the ultra-widescreen will give you ample viewing space to keep track of all your programs.

The menu is user-friendly and operated with a keypad that is simple to use. The keypad makes the fish finder usable in any condition, unlike a touchpad-operated fish finder which you can struggle to use in unfavorable conditions.

The Helix 7 has a dual spectrum chirp sonar and MEGA side and down imaging. Dual Spectrum CHIRP comes with two search options, wide and narrow mode.

CHIRP wide mode provides maximum coverage, while narrow mode provides specific detail coverage.

Furthermore, the side and down imaging provide a clear image of 125 feet to the side and 125 feet down, producing a detailed image of the surrounding water.

For connectivity, the Helix 7 comes with Bluetooth and ethernet connection capabilities.

It has an internal GPS with mapping capabilities and can connect to compatible products. This is a great all-around fish finder that even comes with a transducer!

Garmin Striker Plus 4 with Dual-beam

The Garmin Striker Plus 4 is a small unit with a 4-inch bright display, even readable in direct sunlight.

The 800×400 interface is controlled with 5 buttons and four directional inputs on the front. It has a built-in GPS that lets you mark waypoints and create routes. The GPS also lets you monitor your speed.

The Striker Plus also comes with built-in Garmin quickdraw, which lets you create and store maps with 1′ contours, up to 2 million acres.

A transducer is also included, with Garmin Chirp sonar that can provide clear and detailed images.

This is one of the most affordable options on this list, providing everything you need at a low price in a package small enough to mount on your kayak!

The dual-beam transducer it comes with provides some great target separation. The only thing is that it doesn’t have any connectivity options, meaning you can’t connect it across your other units.

Humminbird HELIX 5 SI/GPS Combo

The Humminbird HELIX 5 is a 5-inch display with a TFT widescreen LCD that has 256 colors, which can be used as a split-screen.

The interface is operated with a keypad on the right side of the LCD screen. It also comes with a built-in GPS that displays boat speed and is compatible with Humminbird Lake Master cartography and Navionics.

The HELIX 5 has dual-beam sonar, side imaging, and down imaging; this makes it a combo that has everything you need right out of the box.

The fish finder has a maximum capability to read at 1500’ depth. A memory card reader for a micro sd is also included.

This is a great fish finder, and you will get what you pay for if you purchase it.

Lowrance Elite-7 CHIRP

The Lowrance Elite-7 CHIRP is a 7-inch widescreen fish finder with a colorful display. The high-resolution interface is controlled by buttons located to the right of the screen.

It includes a pre-loaded Insight base map, an internal 16-channel GPS, and a waterproof micro-SD memory card slot.

Its Insight Genesis allows you to create your map from the sonar data you record.

The Elite-7 CHIRP also comes with CHIRP sonar and down scan imaging that provides crystal-clear imagery on the high-resolution screen.

CHIRP sonar makes it easier to distinguish between fish and find the ones you want to be catching.

Moreover, the down scanning provides clear images of fish below your boat as well. These can also handle greater depths and faster boat speeds while still providing clear images.

The Elite-7 CHIRP is a great fish finder, especially for its price, but it does have one detriment. It lacks the side imaging that other fish finders have, but other than that, it’s a great choice for a fish finder.

Humminbird Solix 10

The Humminbird Solix 10 is at the higher end of the fish finder spectrum. It is a 10-inch Cross Touch touchscreen display with a customizable split-screen option.

In addition to being a touchscreen-operated display, it also has a panel of buttons that are useful for function when the touchscreen is inoperable. This is useful during conditions where the touchscreen is inoperable.

The Solix 10 also features Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar, MEGA down imaging, and MEGA side imaging.

It has a powerful dual-core processor, which makes the images produced top quality. It also easily networks with other models to create a one-boat network.

It has Bluetooth, ethernet, wi-fi, NMEA2000, and NMEA0183 connections. This makes it the most connective unit on this list.

It’s easy to see why Hummingbird is such a trusted brand, so if you have the budget for this high-end unit, this is the one for you, but they have plenty of other fantastic models.

Raymarine Dragonfly 7 Pro

The Raymarine Dragonfly 7 Pro is a 7-inch display with a resolution of 800×480 WVGA and a 15:9 aspect ratio. The interface is button-controlled, with a keypad located underneath the screen this time.

Raymarine Dragonfly 7 Pro

The Dragonfly 7 Pro has a built-in GPS that comes with c-map essentials and wide-spectrum CHIRP sonar.

The sonar has a maximum depth of 600 feet and high-speed bottom tracking. Its sonar, named CHIRP DownVision, provides clear sonar images.

Connectivity is the main detriment here for the Dragonfly 7 Pro. It does have built-in wi-fi, so you can stream your sonar data straight to your device through their Raymarine Wi-Fish mobile app.

But that’s pretty much all it provides in terms of connectivity. Other than this, though, it’s a relatively good display with some excellent built-in sonar.

Lowrance Hook Reveal

The Lowrance Hook Reveal is a 5-inch display that provides clear views, even in direct sunlight.

The interface is controlled with buttons located to the right of the screen. It also comes with a GPS plotter that makes route, trail, and waypoint navigation easy.

The Hook Reveal comes with a SplitShot transducer that provides high-quality DownScan imaging and fish-finding capabilities of a wide-angle high CHIRP Sonar.

It also has FishReveal, which combines the target separation of Lowrance CHIRP sonar and image quality of DownScan imaging to make fish easier to find and identify.

In addition, the sonar is also automatically adjusted with autotuning.

Sadly the built-in GPS antenna is a non-mapping plotter, so no mapping content is included with this unit. But aside from that, it’s a great fish finder that comes with a ton of features for its price.

Final Thoughts

There are some great fish finders out there if you look hard enough. But hopefully, now you have a better idea of which one you need.

Our favorite is the Garmin Striker Plus 4, but maybe you want a fish finder that is a little more budget-friendly?
