1. Keyport Fishing Pier
There is no cost to fish at this pier. This public pier even has covered shelter to keep you dry in the event that the skies open up. Cast your line and you are likely to reel in a Bluefish or Striper. However, this pier also has crab hiding below the water as well. Set some traps prior to casting from the pier and you will likely catch more than you anticipated. Nearby attractions include the Keyport Farmers Market, Waterfront Park and Fireman’s Fair.

2. Carteret Fishing Pier
This 24/7/365 fishing pier costs nothing yet provides ample opportunity to catch an abundance of fish. Drive on over to Waterfront Fitness Trail in Carteret and you are likely to catch plenty of Striped Bass, regardless of whether you cast your line morning, noon or at night. 4. Keansburg Fishing Pier
Keansburg is a bit different from other fishing piers in New Jersey in that it runs $8 for adult fishermen. There is even a charge of $5 for children. Furthermore, there is a dollar fee to walk the pier. This is a truly classic wooden pier that measures 2,000 feet, extending all the way to the Raritan Bay. In fact, the pier is positioned adjacent to the Keansburg Amusement Park, ensuring you have plenty to do after a morning or afternoon of pier fishing with the family. In terms of fish variety, the pier provides access to Flounder, Stripers, Bluefish, Fluke, Rays and Sea Robins.

5. John C. Bartlett Jr. County Park
There is no cost to fish from the pier. Though the park was lambasted by Hurricane Sandy nearly a decade ago, it is back in tip-top shape, featuring a new pier. Cast your line and you have a chance to catch everything from Summer Flounder to Bluefish and Striped Bass. This is hands-down one of the best fishing piers in New Jersey.

6. Grassy Sound Marina Pier
The Grassy Sound Marina Pier runs $6 per adult and $3 per kid. However, regular fishermen can obtain an annual, monthly or weekly pass if desired. This wooden pier is positioned in the lovely Grassy Sound. Measuring 24 feet in width and 285 feet in length, the pier provides anglers with ample space to move around for truly comfortable fishing. The site’s fish are highlighted by the idiosyncratic Blue Claw Crab.

7. Ventnor City Fishing Pier
The pier runs $10 per adult and $5 for senior citizens, veterans and kids. However, children younger than the age of 10 are not permitted onto the pier. This ocean-facing site is one of the last available in the Garden State. Located in close proximity to Atlantic City, the Ventnor City Pier juts out 1,000 feet into the Ocean, extending farther out into the water than any other pier. This is precisely why kids younger than 10 are not allowed past the gates.
Cast your line from the Ventnor City Fishing Pier and you have the potential to catch Tautog, Black Seabass, Sheepshead and more. 8. Ocean City Fishing Club Pier
This pier extends 635 feet southeast from the Ocean City boardwalk. The facilities include a clubhouse, deck, a storage facility for equipment on the inner “T”, and bait storage (refriferator/freezer), bait/fish cleaning tables, sink and tent shelter on the outer “T” fishing platform. The outer “T” is 50 feet wide and 30 feet long with an elevation of approximately 24 plus feet. Great place for catching flounder, striped bass and weakfish.
