Is it Healthy to Eat Trout?

Trout contains the same amount of protein as poultry and red meat, but with a much lower calorie and fat content. Eating this fish is an excellent way to get a boost of nutrients while avoiding some of the unhealthy downsides of other popular proteins.

In addition to its high protein content, trout contains many beneficial vitamins and minerals, including B-complex, A and D, zinc, and iodine.

Perhaps most importantly, eating fish like trout is one of the best ways to get Omega-3 fatty acids into your diet. This ingredient comes with numerous health benefits, including a decreased risk of heart disease, help with building muscles and tissue, and even reduced inflammation in the body.

Unlike some types of seafood, trout contains very low levels of mercury. It’s considered one of the most eco-friendly fish you can add to your diet, along with scallops, oysters, and catfish. There’s basically no downside to adding a delicious piece of trout to your plate, especially because it’s a flavorful and versatile protein that’s excellent when prepared many different ways.
